  • How do you define yourself? • • Is there a right and a wrong way to define yourself? • Are you defined by the things you own? By the people you surround yourself with? By the activities you partake in? • OR • Are you defined by your values? By your spirituality? By your relationship to life? • A recent conversation with a friend left me thinking. I feel like in the past I’ve used outside things such as my job as a snowboard instructor or my friends to define me. But these aren’t definitions of the core of who I am, these are merely temporarily external expressions and manifestations of who I am at the moment. So how do you define the core of who you are? Is there a way to put ‘who’ you are into words? • How do you define yourself? Please, leave a comment below. I’m curious.
  • Wishing everyone safe travels this holiday season. • • Don’t let traffic sour your mood- treat those spare moments as a gift and use them to consciously count your blessings. • • And remember, you are loved.
  • spend more time outdoors than in. • this semester I’ve spent more weekends camping than at my house and I love it. I used to think I was too busy to go camping, but this semester I decided enough was enough and that I’d go camping anyway. And somehow my grades aren’t suffering. All those tests, quizzes and projects have somehow been finished successfully. If there’s a will there’s a way. Mother Nature takes care of her children. • Have you been putting off something that brings you joy? Waiting until you “have more time?”
  • at first glance, did you notice an individual stone or the tower in general? most of us probably noticed the tower • • in life it’s the opposite. life is the tower and each day, hour, minute, week, month, year is a stone. in life sometimes it’s easy to get caught staring at the stones and forget that they serve a greater purpose of forming a tower. but it’s important to take time to thing about the tower. what kind of tower are you building? • what are you working towards? what are your goals? it’s so easy to forget and start working towards things that you never wanted in the first place. society, habits, emotions, friends, family, all of these can make us forget what we originally intended- lead us into building a life that might not be what we want. take the time to tune in. in the midst of all this mid term craziness, take a deep breathe. pause and let your mind wander from the stone to the tower. remember your purpose.
  • Stand tall my friends. It shocks me to my very core to know that something so horrendous- a shooting- happened in a place that I hold dear to me. Yesterday evening a man opened fire at @hotyogatallahassee, killing two people and injuring five others. It’s terrifying. something so violent and unthinkable so nearby in a place that I’ve practiced. These things often don’t feel real until they affect us personally. Actually it still doesn’t feel real. It can’t be, can it? • Stand tall friends. Continue to practice and share the light of yoga. Continue to be vulnerable and open with yourself and others. Continue to love. Love more than ever before. Open your arms and your heart to those around you. You never know who is suffering or how they’ll respond to the feelings in their head. We live in a world starved for love. Unthinkable things are happening. There are people who feel so lost and horrible that they feel like the best option is pulling a trigger. Mental health is suffering. Spread love. Fill yourself up with so much love that it can’t help but bubble over into those around you. I’m a firm believer that a little love goes a long way. • If you need someone to talk to in the wake of this awful event, know that I am here for you. Sending lots of love your way.
  • Heyo it’s me. I’ve got a lot of new peeps on here so I figured I’d take this time to properly introduce myself and tell y’all a bit about me. So here’s five random facts: 1. I’m a wild child, born and raised practically in the woods. I’d spend every night out under the stars if I could. 2. I’m a recently converted plant-based eater. I used to think Mother Nature had it right with that circle of life thing, but then I realized that being terrified and in pain sucks and I didn’t want to put any animals through that. Maybe in the past we had to kill things to survive, but things are different now. It’s possible to survive on a plant-based diet. 3. My hair is 100% natural, aka I’ve used nothing but water to wash it since July. And it looks so clean that people don’t believe me but it’s true. 4. Yoga and rock climbing currently are my two loves. Training the mind and the body to work in cohesion and push beyond the limits of what I thought possible is off the charts wild. 5. Post-college my dream is to either live the dirt bag climber van life or be off in some European city making a living outside by ski instructing, white water guiding, or something else equally rad.
  • push your boundaries. i fell on a tree my first time climbing outside. did that stop me from getting back up and trying to send the route? heck no. the first few vegan meals i made literally tasted like crap and were so bad i had to throw them away. did that stop me from going vegan? heck no, i kept cooking and finally made some of the most delicious meals that I’ve ever tasted. i got attacked while traveling in Costa Rica. does that mean im going to stop traveling? heck no, despite the butterflies already fluttering around in my stomach, im on the fast track to studying in Spain next semester. • • don’t give up just because something doesn’t work out the first time. failure hurts. life hurts. things won’t go as planned. remember Murphy’s law: everything that can go wrong will. but that doesn’t mean you give up and spend your days hiding away in your room watching game of thrones (well not all of your days). when you fall, brush yourself off and get back up again. what’s your goal? is it worth the struggle? i think it is.
  • sexual assault. rape. it happens. are you ready? i wasn’t. • this picture was taken a day before i ended up in the hospital after being sexually assaulted. i didn’t know what to do, id never been attacked before and my natural instincts took too long to kick in. • ladies listen up. tomorrow FSU class registration opens and i highly recommend you register for PEM 1404: Self-Defense for Women. it’s only one credit and had I taken this class last spring instead of this fall, im fairly confident that the events of July 7th would have ended a bit differently. If you’re not an FSU student, register for your local RAD (rape aggression defense) class- they’re available at most colleges and community centers. • you’re safe until your not. please, protect yourself and take this course. if you need any extra encouragement look at the second picture. this is me several WEEKS later when i finally started looking like a human being again. please do yourself a favor and sign up for RAD. i hope you’ll never need it, but if you do...
  • be flexible. the world doesn’t always go how you want. it throws surprises left and right. trust the process. things will work out just as they should. • p.s. winter is coming. i got my first taste of fall here in atlanta and now dreams of snow and skiing won’t leave my head
  • nature is constantly changing and evolving. you can never expect a place to be the same as it was when you left it. you can’t even expect it to be there. • today hurricane michael tore through the northwest coast of florida. this little beach will never look that same as it did a weekend ago when i visited. creation and destruction. all life is a process. i can’t wait to return and see how things have changed. • to all those in the line of Michael, stay safe my friends
